Sociedade de Jogos de Macau (SJM), owned by Macau gaming magnate Stanley Ho in 2007 posted the biggest profit amongst gaming concession-holders in Macau, with total profit of US$230 million.
According to accounts, published Wednesday in the Macau press, only MGM Grand Paradise and Melco PBL Gaming, in which Pansy Ho and Lawrence Ho, are, respectively, shareholders, posted a loss.
In an analysis by operator, SJM, whose 2007 profit was 20 percent lower than in 2006, had net turnover of US$2.52 billion after paying US$1.61 billion in direct gaming taxes.
Venetian Macau, which in Macau owns the world’s largest casino, saw profit in 2007 fall 47 percent against 2006 (from US$371.5 million to US$197.4 million).
Melco PBL Gaming, which as a result of a an agreement with a gaming promoter has seen strong growth of its revenues, despite this posted a net loss of US$130.1 million at the end of the year, in addition to a deffered loss from 2006 of US$48.3 million.
Wynn Macau in 2007 posted net profit of US$185.75 million, with net operating income of US$1.398 billion and operating costs and expenses of US$1.215 billion.
Galaxy Casino, which only has accounts for last year, posted a profit of US$70.11 million based on revenue of US$1.482 billion.
MGM Grand Paradise, which opened its first casino on 18 December 2007, posted net revenues of US$20.23 million and ended 2007 with a loss of US$89 million.
Macau currently has 29 casino licenses — but only 28 casinos are in operation — and six de facto operators with three concessionaires and three sub-concessionaires
