Two men including a croupier, who allegedly stole more than HK$40,000 worth of gaming chips at a local casino, were arrested by the Judiciary Police. The two suspects are aged 21 and 20 years respectively, and the croupier, surnamed Chan, was detained on Tuesday while he was still on duty at the casino, the police spokesman said.

Police received information at about 5am from a casino that one of its croupiers was suspected of having stolen a number of gaming chips with the help of a gambler. He added that HK$40,000 in cash had been found on the suspected accomplice when he was taken into custody.

The suspect allegedly committed the crime by putting the four chips on the gaming table, which allowed his accomplice, disguised as a gambler, to pocket them.

he duo, who were also suspected of having stolen a number of such gaming chips from the same casino last month, have been passed to the Public Prosecution for further investigations and possible arraignment on larceny charges.
